Limestone Theater introduces Macbeth as the fall play this year.
Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, is known as a Scottish play due to its setting. The play features many special effects, including fight scenes, strobing lights, and blood.
Director Mat Jester chose the play Macbeth because she loves educational opportunities. Jester set opening night as Halloween, which gives it a spooky vibe.
The challenges the actors have faced while practicing during rehearsal are learning how to read Shakespeare and struggling to read lines. The whole cast also has to balance many personal commitments, including work, school, and sports.
Jester has enjoyed adding stage combat, having a cast full of talented people, seeing many kids get involved with the play, and teaching kids how to fight with swords.
I had an opportunity to review the play. I loved how the actors helped each other out, remembered their lines, worked backstage, and got into costumes. I don’t have anything bad to say about the show. It is fantastic! The trickiest part about the play seems be the behind-the-scenes work of the lighting, sounds, props, and everybody’s correct mic put on. Overall, my favorite part of the show is the witches’ scene. It was amazing! The actors and the effects of the lighting, sound, and props add so much to the scene. It is a great scene to watch just before the introduction of Macbeth.
The show runs from October 31st – November 2nd. Audience members who come in costume on Halloween will receive a discounted admission.
Go see the play! You don’t want to miss it!
