Jennifer Campbell, Limestone Community High School’s librarian, has been recognized as School Librarian of the Year by the Association of Illinois School Library Educators, also known as AISLE.

Campbell, who has been the LCHS librarian for the last six years, she says she was “shocked, surprised, and overjoyed,” when she found out she won the award.  Campbell will be formally recognized at the AISLE conference in Champaign in October.

Campbell wants her work to have a life-long impact on students.  “My goal is to impact all of you. I want to provide you with all the skills that you guys need when you go out into the real world and walk into a public, an academic, any type of library ever, and know how to use it,” explained Campbell.  “What I absolutely, without a doubt want to teach you is actually how to be lifelong learners and readers. I want to be able to say that the students at Limestone go out into the world and still love to read,” Campbell continued.

Keith Brown is the Principal of Limestone Community High School. He was the first to receive the news from Campbell. Brown said, “Miss Campbell does a fantastic job here at Limestone and so to be recognized by her peers is phenomenal.”

Campbell earned a bachelor’s of elementary education from Quincy University and her master’s of library and informational science from San Jose State University. She has been a librarian for 11 years.  Campbell is the first librarian from Limestone to earn this honor.
