Gremlins review

Gremlins review

Max Chrestenson, Senior Writer

“Gremlins” is a movie about a gadget salesman who is looking for a special gift for his son and finds one at a store in Chinatown. The shopkeeper is reluctant to sell him the ‘mogwai’ but sells it to him with the warning to never expose him to bright light, water, or to feed him after midnight. All of this happens and the result is a gang of gremlins that decide to tear up the town on Christmas Eve.

This movie, in my opinion, gets a five out of the five-star review. Many people debate that this movie is a Halloween classic, though I personally believe that it always has been and always will be a Christmas movie. “Gremlins” is filled with star 80’s celebrities, such as Howie Mandel and Corey Feldman.

The ‘mogwai’ is a cute lovable creature who loves singing and is impossible to hate, though the ‘mogwais’ counterparts are called “Gremlins”. Gremlins are nasty creatures, covered in spines and warts. They are capable of spontaneously multiplying when exposed to water, yet hate sunlight. All of the movie’s characters are expanded upon and connected with, so you feel a connection or understanding with each of them.

Overall, I highly recommend watching “Gremlins” whether it be by yourself or with your friend, this movie just screams “80’s classic”. This movie can be streamed for free on Peacock, or rented on Amazon Prime, and HBO Max.
