Ghost’s latest psalm (album) Skeletá, was released on April 25th and featured the singles Statanized, Lachryma, and Peacefield. With this, part of their gimmick is for the singer Tobias Forge to “change” who he is on stage by swapping face paint, masks, outfits, and personality, along with the costumes of the band members. This is the fifth iteration the band has gone through since 2009. The lead up to this album also had a live stream showing music videos from the band, chapters (little clips which are funny but help provide insight into the band), showing off fans who have done cosplays or made anything ghost-related, release countdowns for when it reached 12 in certain areas across Europe, Asia, and The Americas, and debuted songs off the album.
The track list consists of:
- Peacefield
- Lachryma
- Satanized
- Guiding Lights
- De Profundis Borealis
- Cenotaph
- Missila Amori
Marks of the Evil One
- Umbra
- Excelsis
This album stuck towards 70s/80s rock and was a personal album for Forge. He covered several topics such as faith, failure, a constant feeling of guilt. This album has really beautiful parts with songs like Peacefield and Excelsis. It also has insanely catchy riffs such as Missila Amori (Rockets of Love) and Marks of the Evil One. Overall, this album is really good; for some people, it takes time to grow on them. I give this album an 8.5/10 and I cannot wait for more to be shown of this era.
