Limestone’s New Resource Officer

Limestone has welcomed a new resource officer, Donna Nicholson.

Nicholson previously worked for the Peoria Police Department for 30 years. Her roles included working in the housing projects, patrol officer, DARE officer, detective unit, gang unit, VICE and narcotics, and then sergeant.

The Chief of Police of Bartonville Police Department recommended Nicholson apply for the job after she announced her retirement from the Peoria Police Department. She then applied and Limestone hired her for the job.

Nicholson explained that she likes working for Limestone because she likes the change of pace and the healthy environment the staff brings.

Nicholson appreciates that Limestone is a low-violence school and said it is one of her favorite things about Limestone. “I like that it is a safe place for the kids, there is not a lot of violence here,” she explains.

When asked what her best advice is for the students here Nicholson shared, “The biggest thing is to stay focused on your education and your future, and to stay out of drama and gossip.”

Nicholson explained that she does not have a set time that she will be at Limestone, just that she will stay as long as she is happy.
