Limestone Community High School has announced several new classes for the 2026-2027 school year. Assistant Principal Stephanie Decker stated, “I think it’s exciting, and I hope people will challenge themselves and take classes that interest them. [Students should] look at what they may want to do after high school and how they can learn more about that here at Limestone.” Below is a list of Limestone’s new classes, along with a brief description of each class:
- Honors Chemistry: This honors addition to our current chemistry class aims to provide students who wish to take chemistry with a way to do so while getting credit toward the honors program.
- German Particular Topic: This class is the newest addition to our foreign language department, but students should note that the curriculum for this class does not include speaking, reading, or writing in the German language.
- German Conversation and Culture: This second addition to our foreign language hall will teach students about German culture and society, but will also not involve fluent speaking, reading, or writing in the German language.
- Creative Writing: This class will be a semester-long class that teaches students about the creative writing process, which ranges from poetry to short stories.
- Modern Novel: Also a single semester, this class will focus much more than the typical English class on reading and literary analysis.
- Early College Biology: This class will be offered in partnership with Illinois Central College and promises to provide students with a science credit that is often taken during their freshman year of college.
- Exploring K-12 Education: This replacement for our past childcare classes is aimed toward students who want to pursue a career in teaching. All students are eligible for this class, but they must have taken a year of Human Development first.
