Limestone hired Adrea Skinner as a new addition to the Family Consumer Science team.
Located in room 25, she usually welcomes her students with a smile and a Would you Rather question, like apples or bananas, or Burger King or McDonalds as a warm-up.
Before Limestone, Skinner worked at Westville High School for five years. There, she worked as a biology teacher and also taught chemistry. She decided to switch to an FCS teacher because it sounded interesting and she wanted a change of pace.
Now, she teaches human development. According to Skinner, one quality that all LCHS students who graduate should have is the ability to communicate, to listen, and to respond to others, even if it isn’t someone you’d usually talk to.
Next year, she plans to launch a K-12 education class for students interested in pursuing a career in K-12 education. Skinner’s plans for the future are to get students signed up for the K-12 course next year. She states that advising clubs sounds fun and that maybe she will try it out in the future.
Students who take an FCS class as a freshman will be able to take her classes as a sophomore, junior, or senior.
Skinner says teachers have welcomed her with open arms. “The staff members have been very, very welcoming and kind to me,” she explained.
