A new opportunity called guided learning lab (GLL) during Rocket Academy started at Limestone the second week of the semester.
Guided learning helps students who have some issues learning math. It is held in Ms. Michelle Cornwell’s room (21).
Cornwell explains, “Guided learning is designed for 9th graders in prealgebra and Algebra 1 to help keep them on track for graduation. For those students who have a D/F, they can come to GLL to work on missing work, prepare for their next quiz or to ask questions. Students stay in GLL until their grade is a C and they have all their missing work in.”
Cornwell contines, “If a student wants to come to GLL to work on projects or missing work but aren’t on the list, I usually allow it as I want everyone to have the opportunity to make up their work! The freshmen teachers have been great at helping me gather their missing work and ensuring everyone is succeeding.”
GLL is a team effort. “The counselors and Mrs. Vietti are so helpful when it comes to meeting with the students to tell them about GLL and to remind them when to come to my RA. It takes a village to keep everyone on track and I couldn’t do it without the math and counseling department,” said Cornwell.
Plans for next year are uncertain, but Cornwell hopes GLL will return because it has been successful.”
