Limestone has welcomed a new student teacher Mr. Cardell Pickens. Pickens has come from Pleasant Valley to complete his student teaching.
Pickens started teaching at Pleasant Valley first as a Para Professional. He continued working at Pleasant Valley and continued his career as a choir instructor and musical director. Pickens is pursuing a degree in secondary education. As of right now, Pickens is still employed with Pleasant Valley but is on a leave of absence.
Pickens is currently serving as a student teacher with both business teachers Mr. Eakle and Mr. Ebbert. He will complete his student teaching in April and graduate in May from Grand Canyon University.
When Pickens graduates, he plans to, “immediately rest because I have been running for the past couple of weeks,” he explained.
Picken’s time at Limestone has been great so far. “I enjoy the family-like environment here. All the staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. The students have also been great,” he said.
With teaching kids in secondary education and S.T.E.M., Pickens also wants to teach kids life lessons. Pickens explained, “I want to also teach kids skills that they need in life.”
